Corn Chowder: A Story of Manifestation

Have you heard of the power of manifestation? The Law of Attraction? Or the Law of Belief?

Whether you have or not, there is no doubt that our frequency—made up of our thoughts, feelings, actions, and energy—can attract anything you can imagine.

Some may think that attracting anything you desire is a made-up concept, confirmation bias, or the Placebo Effect.

But my story of corn chowder proves that sometimes what you desire, even unintentionally, can manifest in your reality.

The Corn Chowder

My friends and I decided to go on vacation in Cabo, Mexico at one of the many resorts in that area.

My favorite part of the resort concept is the access to unlimited food and drinks.

One of our many options in the resort package was a restaurant overlooking a golf course. To this point, the food had been decent but nothing to ride home about. But this golf course restaurant ended up being the best food by 10,000 times.

At the golf club restaurant, I shared another great meal with my friends full of love, laughs, and light. One of the items I got as an appetizer was their Corn Chowder. Their corn chowder was the best I ever had—to the point that I could literally eat that everyday.

A Fond Memory: 6 Months Later

Long after the trip had ended, we found ourselves on a weekend trip to Palm Springs, CA seeking much-needed relief from the stress of everyday life.

During this weekend, we ate at restaurants, shopped, went to the spa, and enjoyed each other’s company. I felt so happy and grateful to be with my friends and allowed myself to enjoy the whole experience without stresses.

As we were headed to the downtown area for our last night of browsing and shopping before dinner, the image of corn chowder suddenly came to mind. The feeling I had when we had that corn chowder revisited me fondly.

I could not stop seeing the image which is rare for me given I have Aphantasia. So, I was relaxed and enjoying our time together while looking out the window of our Uber and listening to my friends talk fondly.

Then, I turned to them and exclaimed, “I am just remembering that day we had the corn chowder in Cabo. I really loved that day and the chowder.” And I smiled and felt that breath of relief leave my body afterwards. I could not stop thinking about the day, the taste of the corn chowder, and how satisfied that made me feel to think of that. I sort of hyperfixated in the back of my mind, replaying it casually.

My friends reminisced briefly with me about our past trip and nothing more than a moment had passed before we moved onto the flow of our night together. We had also discussed dinner which was going to be Italian food somewhere.

As the night wore on, we enjoyed libations and shopping for a couple of hours before trying to find a local Italian restaurant that suited us.

An Unexpected Finding: Corn Chowder

We searched around for Italian restaurants, but we did not find anything that seemed to suit us all for the night.

So we searched around for other options we would all enjoy and found this restaurant that served a variety of American and other cuisine dishes.

Upon arriving, I opened the menu to see one of the appetizers they had: Corn Chowder.

I smiled with glee, knowing I had been craving that earlier in the day. But, I saw the title: Crab Corn Chowder. Oh, no. I do not like or eat seafood. I wished they had a meatless or seafoodless option.

But instead of moving on, I looked closer. With our without crab.

And so I enjoyed my dinner with friends and ordered the corn chowder with another friend who had eaten one in Cabo with me.

And I could not stop the joyful feeling that I had instantly recreated the joyful memory without knowledge or effort. I did not try to find a restaurant that had corn chowder at all, nor did my friends.

Instead, I was eating the fruits of unintentional manifestation. I was eating the 2nd best corn chowder I had ever had, based on the first best one I ever had. And certainly, the only corn chowder that exists in Palm Springs.

I was eating that which I desired without examination. Based on satisfaction, joy, and circumstance in my imagination of a memory. It’s a coincidence too silly to ignore.

I was eating corn chowder again.
